This report from 2023/24 (pages 9 & 10) shows that Sanborn has 55% of its students from within outside the community map (referred to as Choice In) and 56% as Choice Out (from outside inside the zone choosing elsewhere). I have no idea why those percentages add up to 111%. See Katie's comment
Comparing Sanborn to the surrounding elementary schools, it's the median for Choice Out and Choice In, so this is common in NW Longmont. For Choice In, the schools to the east (Alpine and Northridge) are higher.
Some other notable stats:
- 16% of students are English language learners (13.8% of those are non-english or limited-english proficient)
- 58.3% are on Free & Reduced Lunch (52.8% and 5.5%, respectively)
This tells me that of the 1,218 homes:
- 1,100+ homes are not currently associated to Sanborn
- Even if you remove 50% of Longs Peak Middle (60 choice-in) and 20% of Longmont High (120 choice-in), it would be a fair estimate that there are 900 homes in our community with no children in school, six times the number of families at Sanborn.
